20 week appointment

Dear Baby Boy, Still can’t believe I have another boy on the way. Confirmation at the ultrasound was, well, I was ready this time I guess! I am trying to decide what we’re going to name you! Daddy has no idea, and I have a few ideas I like, but he’s not sure on those. So you might not get a name for quite a while, kiddo. At our doctor appointment today, Dr. Harrison said you are looking great! Nice and big, all your organs look perfect, and you are healthy and strong. Always a relief! It’s hard to tell what I am looking at during the ultrasound, so Dr. Harrison helped me see everything. Good job, baby! One interesting bit, is there is an extra thick portion of the placenta that is not usually there. Dr. Harrison said it shows up when you are pregnant with twins, so it is likely Mommy was pregnant with twins for a while, and the other baby didn’t continue developing for some reason. I felt a little sad about that, but I am a little glad, too. Twins would be so crazy! Mostly, I am ...

16 Week Appointment

Dear Baby, Well, we're still chugging along. I am FINALLY not feeling like I want to die all the time, and at our doctor's appointment, I was pleased to tell this to Doctor Harrison. I am looking forward to our 20 week ultrasound in a few weeks, when I get to see all of you and see how you are growing. Until then, keep giving me a break on the nausea, will you? Emergency Rooms

We had an adventure this week. On Tuesday, I called Daddy around 1, because I knew I was getting a migraine. I could feel that fuzziness coming on, and I knew I would need help. Well, it turned out to be much worse than I thought. When I tried talking to Daddy, I could hardly speak. I couldn't remember words. Daddy told me I sounded drunk and left right away. By the time he got home, things had gone from bad to worse. I had moments where I couldn't feel my hands or my feet, I couldn't remember what I was supposed to be doing. I tried to stand when Daddy told me he was going to take me to bed, and I said "my bedroom upstairs?" We don't have an upstairs, Baby. I couldn't stand, either. I fell into his arms. Daddy carried me to our bed and he called Nana, who came over right away. She took care of Johnny and Henry, and Daddy took me to the Emergency Room. Well, in the Emergency Room, they sent me right through to the fast track, and checked me for all s...

Summer Heat

Dear Baby, I am so looking forward to fall this year. I always do, but especially right now. When it is hot outside, I feel so much sicker. The cool air in the mornings makes me want to be outside doing things, but by afternoon and evening, I am miserable in the heat. Overall, I am feeling so much better, though! As long as I remember to have snacks, I don't feel any more "morning" sickness. That is such a relief, to me and your brothers. I am still quite tired and very emotional though! Everything sends me to crying these days. Even one of Henry and Johnny's favorite cartoons made me cry this week. How silly is that? There has been a horrible storm in Texas the last week or so, covering Houston and the surrounding area with TONS of water. Thousands have lost their homes, their possessions, and their loved ones to Hurricane Harvey. As I see pictures and read about it on the news, I am so grateful that we are here in Provo, where things are safe. I look forward...

Dr. Again

Hi Baby, We visited the doctor again today. We saw Dr. Harrison, who will help deliver you when you are reading next year! We talked about how Mommy is feeling (AWFUL, by the way) and how your big brothers are doing. While we were there, we listened to your heartbeat again! Dr. Harrison said your heart is on the high end of the spectrum, which means you are 60% likely to be a girl. When I told Daddy this evening, he he just laughed and said: "Well, 10% closer to a girl, whoo hoo!" But it was still fun to hear your sweet little heart. Henry and Johnny stood at the edge of the bed watching the Dr. Harrison put the little machine on my tummy and move it around, looking for you. It's so exciting to know you are there. Finally Feeling Better

Dear Baby, I realized as I sat down to work tonight, that I spent almost the whole day without feeling like I was going to die! SUCCESS! I hope that means the end of all this misery and sickness--it does mean that we're in trimester 2! I can't wait to meet you, baby. Henry asks me about you often, Johnny refuses to acknowledge you, but we'll get there. Love, Mommy 12 weeks 1 Day

I See You!

Image
Dear Baby, We saw you today!! Me and your brothers! We were so excited. I went to the Dr. to talk about insurance and all the financial side of having a baby. All that is boring, but we got our official due date: February 25. One day before Henry's due date! Though he was born 2 weeks early. While we were there, I asked if we could listen to your heartbeat. The nurse was happy to oblige, and went and got the little sonogram to find your heartbeat. Well, you did not want to hold still. We could hear you moving around and, occasionally, caught the sound of your little heart. But I think the nurse wanted to make sure your heart was doing ok, and so she went and got the little ultrasound machine. As soon as she placed it on my tummy, we could see you! And you lifted your hand up and waved at your brothers. It was AWESOME. I noticed right away that you have the same little nose as your brothers, and a sweet little profile. I was so happy to see you there inside of me, even though ...
